25th Harbin International Ice and Snow Festival 2009

Every year International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival is held at Harbin since 1963. Harbin is the capital of Heilongjiang, China. The average temperature in winter is -16 Degree due to cold winds from Siberia. Generally it starts at January 5th every year.

But they permits earlier for the visitors according to weather conditions. Artist around the world participates in largest snow and ice sculpture festival. Sculpture are made with latest laser cutting and also with hands. The festival officially begins on January 5, when 800,000 tourists are expected to visit the freezing city in northern China. Here are some of the attraction of 2009 festival.

Snow Prints

They are all concave but create a super cool illusion of 3D sculptures. This snow prints are truly incredible. These prints were made by simply pushing our faces into fresh powder on cars.

I had an idea starting this year about supporting my husband’s fine art paintings. I was calling it “The Tuesday Specials” but today it is Saturday, I know.....I'm late.... :)
